Recognizing progress and reaching goals are two of the most rewarding results of exercising. I had a moment of seeing just how far I've come during my workout today. I did a 30-minute Jari Love strength training workout this morning without stopping or giving up. When I first began my fitness journey, I could barely get through one of her workouts. I would stop when it started to hurt or just give up because "I didn't feel like doing it today."
Getting through this workout with out stops was the greatest feeling ever. All I could think was "I did it," and "I feel so strong." It really reinforced the "high" I get from completing my workouts. I want to give you some tips on how to build your endurance so you can feel just as amazing and accomplished as I did this morning.

1. Rest This may sound like a silly first step but it's a crucial one. Adequate rest will prepare your body for your intense workout routines. This allows you to give your all on "hard" days and to take it easy on "easy" days. This also means don't plan on doing intense workouts everyday without rest..your body will not thank you.
2. Eat Smart It seems like a given when starting a workout regime but there are some people out there who are under the impression that you can "exercise off a bad diet" (unfortunately, you can't..if only). Doing this may keep you at a healthy weight but it won't give you lasting weight loss. Proper nutrition can make or break your workout. Try including whole grains, fruits, veggies and healthy protein in your diet and cutting out processed foods and refined sugars. You'll see a difference almost immediately.

3. HIIT I posted about this before and here it is again.. High Intensity Interval Training works wonders. You'll torch calories, burn fat and build up your endurance. Catching your body off guard makes it work harder to remain stable which results in better health overall.
4. Include Weights Girls are always telling me that they refuse to do weights because they don't want to get "bulky." Ladies, I promise that you will not get big and bulky if you include weights in your workout. We don't have enough of the hormone testosterone to make us bulk up like men do. Instead, using light weights (3lbs-10lbs) and high reps will actually tighten and tone your muscles. This means that they will actually look smaller. Trust me, it's weird to think about. I always thought cardio was the answer but after adding weights to my workouts, I've noticed my body tightening up and getting toned (AKA I'm feeling like a fit badass!).

So there it is. My advice on building your endurance. Always remember, you are stronger than you think. Don't give up. Good things are going to happen. :)
